Eating Right at the Right Price: Tip-of-the-Day #43

NOT ALL FROZEN FOODS ARE PRICED EQUALLY...

I’m not condoning the consumption of frozen food over fresh produce...but if you’re like me, you eat frozen lunches at work (when you have a job) and/or at home when you’re lazy or counting calories.

Well, my dear friend introduced me to a new line of frozen foods (new to me anyway) carried by Safeway called “Eating Right.” They are exactly like Lean Cuisine and Weight Watchers, only a fraction of the price.

At Safeway, you can buy five Eating Right meals for ten dollars (that's $2 a piece)! I generally go in and buy ten or twenty at a time and just keep my freezer stocked. I augment the sub 300 calorie "dish" with carrot sticks or a healthy green salad...and believe it or not it is actually quite filling. (I'll pop a bag of Paul Newman's own light butter popcorn mid-afternoon if I'm still hungry).

Merely pointing out that frozen meals don’t have to cost as much as the hot foods at Whole Foods! You can pay less and get the same Pasta Primavera and Chicken Enchilada you've come to count on. Just sayin'.
