This was a CNNMoney.com headline on Thursday, March 26. The average 30-year fixed mortgage rate dipped to 5.19%, according to a report from Bankrate.com. That was the lowest rate since 1956!
Analysts say the rate isn't expected to drop much lower, and may fluctuate a bit at this level for awhile, so if you've been thinking about refinancing or purchasing a home - now is certainly the time.
Can you believe that in the early eighties mortgage rates hovered around 21%? Helps to bring some perspective to today's market conditions.
